* FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions about Contacting Golf Facilities
Q: What is the difference between a facility and a course?
A: They are often one in the same. But it is also common to have 27, 36 or more holes at one facility. Businesses want to make sure they are reaching facilities because that’s where the decision makers work.
Q: How do I address mail to a facility?
A: Approximately 20% of the facilities have both a mailing and physical address. Make sure you are mailing to the mailing address, not the physical address. Also, due to personnel turnover, it’s recommended that mail be addressed to a position, rather than a specific person.
Q: Why does the mailing information change? It’s not like a course can move.
A: Mailing addresses change because they are sometimes the address of management personnel. Street names can change from, for example, 123 71st Street to 123 Country Club Drive.
Q: I did a mailing in January and had a lot of returned mail. Why?
A: “Frost-belt” courses, those in the northern U.S. , close for the winter and mailboxes can either close or become filled with mail.
Q: I've mailed to courses in the past and have received returned mail. How is this possible?
A: The most common reason is a change in mailing address but it could also be due to the time of year (winter) or a course closing. As with any list a return of 2%-3% is not uncommon.
